Fort Collins police are investigating a drive-by shooting this afternoon in which shots were fired near an elementary school.
At 12:52 p.m., officers were called to Locust and Stover streets after a report that shots had been fired, according to a news release from the Fort Collins Police Services.
After arriving, officers learned that two teenagers were walking in the area when the boys started arguing with two men in a car.
One of the suspects got out of car and fired several shots toward the area where the teenagers were standing. No one was injured, but there were two other people nearby when the shots were fired.
The suspects took off in a gold four-door sedan.
As a safety precaution, Laurel Elementary School has been placed on soft lockout, meaning the doors have been locked, but people are still allowed to enter and leave the building.
Police are encouraging anyone who sees a vehicle matching the description of the suspects’ car, to write down the license plate number and call police. Officers are also reminding people not to try and stop or follow the suspects.
