A New York man has been convicted of killing a former Colorado radio newsman.
The jury deliberated less than a day before convicting 19-year-old John Katehis on Tuesday in George Weber’s killing at his Brooklyn apartment in March 2009. He had been stabbed about 50 times.
Prosecutors say Weber, 47, had responded to Katehis’ ad offering sex for money. Katehis’ lawyers said their client was defending himself. He faces 25 years to life in prison.
A mistrial was declared in a trial last year. Weber worked for KIMN, KOA, KHOW and KTLK in Denver in the 1980s and early 1990s. He later joined WABC radio in New York.
