ASPEN, Colo.—The family of a Snowmass man who died in a fall from the Maroon Creek Bridge is suing the Colorado Department of Transportation, claiming the state failed to maintain the bridge.
The lawsuit was filed by the parents of George Aldrich Jr. His body was found under a bridge last December following a two-week search.
According to the Aspen Daily News ( ), the family claims a fence along the edge of the old bridge had sagged and it was not repaired.
Deputy Coroner Audra Keith says tests show that Aldrich was intoxicated, which contributed to his death.
