Social Distortion will return to Denver for three shows at the Ogden Theatre this weekend. Some consider Social D to be the forefathers of West Coast punk rock, with roots dating back as far as 1978. The seminal act led by frontman Mike Ness last played two nights at the much larger Fillmore Auditorium one year ago, though perhaps a third performance in a slightly more snug room will make everyone happier this time around. And by everyone, I mean the tattooed, pierced, rockabilly’d legions of fans that Social D seems to exhume from the bowels of every major city. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday are sold out, but tickets for tonight’s show, $30, are available through .
Brandi Carlile will bring her folk-rock stylings to the Boulder Theater this week as part of KBCO’s Holiday Concert Series. No stranger to Colorado, Carlile wowed us with both her beauty and voice at this year’s Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in Lyons. Tickets for Tuesday’s show are sold out, but try your luck outside the venue. The Secret Sisters will open the show.
