AURORA — Aurora police are searching for a gold sport utility vehicle that struck a pedestrian in the 900 block of South Havana Street on Saturday night and fled the scene.
The male victim, who hasn’t been identified, was hit by a second vehicle and then dragged. He died after being transported to a hospital.
Investigators located accident debris from the gold SUV near the impact area and determined the right front should show significant damage.
“One witness indicated the SUV was a late-model Ford Explorer. Investigators will seek automotive experts to determine the exact make and model of the vehicle in the coming week,” according to a release.
The accident happened at about 8 p.m. when the man got off a southbound bus and tried to cross Havana. He had crossed southbound lanes and was standing in a painted median area waiting for traffic to clear when the SUV slammed into him.
The pedestrian was thrown into the southbound lane and hit by a blue 1995 Corolla.
