Getting your player ready...

Highlands Ranch athlete Joe Hansley — who holds offers from Colorado State, Wyoming and Northern Colorado — remains one of the top uncommitted football players in Colorado’s current senior class.

After taking an official trip to CSU during the season, Hansley has plans to take a trip to Wyoming this weekend for his second official visit.

“I want to check out the school," Hansley said. "They’ll be in bowl week practice so I want to see how they practice and prepare."

CSU, of course, is a different situation, with the Rams recently firing Steve Fairchild.

"I’m kind of waiting to see what happens," he said.

Quick Hitters

• Windsor linebacker Trevor Miller helped his team win the Class 3A state title on Saturday and his play has continued to draw recruiting interest. “The colleges that have been contacting me have been every Division II school in Colorado and then some in Nebraska. I’ve also been in contact with schools like Wyoming," Miller said.

• Pine Creek athlete Marcus Cross has drawn attention from all over the country. “I’ve gotten a few calls from Wofford, Florida Tech, and CSU-Pueblo," he said.

Matt Florence of Kent Denver has been committed to play lacrosse at Virginia since his sophomore year. That has made his senior year much less stressful. “It is actually really nice because I see my other friends worrying about where they are going to school. It is nice knowing where I’m going," Florence said. “The pressure is lifted a little.”

• Lakewood quarterback Dylan Nelson and his teammates put on an amazing run to the 5A title game. The Tigers may have fallen short to Columbine but he certainly has opened some eyes of college coaches. “I’ve been in contact with the University of Pennsylvania every week, Army, Princeton, and a few Division II and III schools," Nelson said.
