BOULDER, Colo.—Jurors in Boulder have convicted a disbarred Lafayette attorney of felony sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and with a pattern of abuse.
Forty-eight-year-old Duane Glenn Rogers had been scheduled to go to trial in 2009 but missed his trial date and was later found living in Mexico.
The Daily Camera reports ( ) he was convicted Thursday on the sex assault charge and also on escape charges.
Rogers was accused of abusing a girl from 2003 to 2008, starting when she was age 12.
Public defender Kathryn Herold argued there were inconsistencies in the accuser’s account, but Deputy District Attorney Catrina Weigel said the inconsistencies were minor and unsurprising given how much time has passed.
Rogers is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 3.
