A Denver jury Tuesday found Richard Impellizine guilty of first-degree murder in connection with a 2009 armed robbery attempt.

Impellizine came up to 21-year-old Billy Ortiz and his friends in June 2009 attempting to rob them. Impellizine then fired at Ortiz and the group, killing Ortiz.

The jury found him guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree assault and two counts of illegal discharge of a firearm, according to the Denver District Attorney’s Office

Impellizine, 22, will face life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 16 to 48 years for each surviving victim.
