The Weld District Attorney has charged a Greeley woman with two counts of attempted murder in the Dec. 29 shooting of a Kersey man.

Tarrara Garcia, 25, is set to appear in Weld District Court at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 18 for a formal advisement of the charges against her.

Garcia, accused of shooting one man twice, and missing her alleged intended victim with 27 bullets, also will face two sentence enhancers of committing a violent crime using a weapon. Garcia is accused of trying to take the law into her own hands by shooting a man she accused of sexually assaulting her son on Christmas day.

If convicted of the charges, plus the sentence enhancers, she could face from 16 to 48 years in prison, double the normal range for the attempted murder charges alone.
