Thornton police need help identifying a man who tried to kidnap a woman from a Walmart parking lot Jan. 3.

The woman was shopping at the store at 9901 Grant St. about 9:30 p.m. when a man she did not know started following her. She left the store, and the man followed her to her car, pulled a black pistol and ordered her to get in the car and presumably take him with her, police said. The victim yelled for help, and when bystanders came to her aid, the man left.

He is described as 25 to 35 years old, about 6 feet tall and 200 to 225 pounds, with having short, thinning blond hair. He wore thin wire glasses and a dark-colored heavy winter coat, a black T-shirt, white sneakers and bluejeans. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
