The Boulder Parks and Recreation Department is asking the public to stay off the trails in a popular bike park in an effort to prevent further damage.

The Valmont Bike Park remains closed after heavy moisture muddied the popular trails, according to a news release from the City of Boulder.

People running, snowboarding, sledding, dog walking and biking on the saturated trails caused heavy damage to the trails.

The repairs and maintenance required to fix the trails is expensive and will push back the park’s re-opening.

A date for when the park will be re-opened has not been determined.

Officials are evaluating different areas of the park and will notify the public once they are open.
