BOULDER, Colo.—A Superior woman accused of killing her 6-month-old son has been found not guilty by reason of insanity.

A judge in Boulder reached the decision Wednesday after listening to testimony from a psychiatrist who said Stephanie Rochester suffered from depression and saw the baby as an “alien, toxic and contaminated being.”

Rochester allegedly told investigators she killed her son Rylan because she thought he had autism.

The Boulder Daily Camera ( ) reported that Rochester was ordered committed to the state mental hospital until she is no longer considered a threat to herself or others.

Prosecutors lost a legal battle to allow their own medical expert to examine Rochester.
