 The Avalanche will be without a representative in the NHL all-star game to be played Jan. 29 at Ottawa. The team had hoped that its leading scorer, Ryan O’Reilly (11 goals and 19 assists) would make the roster.

It is only the second time the team will not have a representative in the game. In 2007-08 Paul Stastny was the only Avs player selected for the Game, but didn’t play because of an appendectomy.

Rookie Gabriel Landeskog will represent the Avalanche in the skills competition on Jan. 28.

A total of 36 All-Stars and 12 Rookies were selected by the NHL today, joining the first six players elected by fans in 2012 NHL all-star fan balloting: Daniel Alfredsson, Erik Karlsson, Milan Michalek and Jason Spezza of the host Ottawa Senators, Dion Phaneuf of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins.
