PUEBLO, Colo.—Authorities evacuated about six buildings and closed South Main Street in downtown Pueblo after a woman brought three sticks of dynamite to police for disposal.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports ( ) the woman found the old sticks dynamite in a house and had them in the trunk of her car Friday morning.

Police removed the dynamite and took it to a shooting range for disposal.

Deputy Police Chief Troy Davenport says the woman will not face charges, saying her heart was in the right place and thought bringing the dynamite to the police department was the thing to do.
