Denver has a 20 percent chance of snow today from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., but the city should see only a passing snow shower or two and not much accumulation, according to the National Weather Service.
The mountains, however, could see much-needed accumulations between 4 inches and 16 inches at higher elevations.
A winter storm warning is in effect until midnight for the southern mountains, including Crested Butte, Taylor Park and Marble.
Up to 16 inches is expected there today, with most of it falling during daylight, forecasters said.
The areas from Aspen to Steamboat Springs are under a winter weather advisory until 11 p.m. today, with 4 to 8 inches of snow in the forecast.
