Getting your player ready...
Staci and Mike Pallasch started exploring the rolling countryside around
Parker after they had a baby on the way, and after their 1960s house in
Denver showed its age and intransigence to all of their ideas on remodeling.
You can come see how that crisis resolved today at Village Homes’
master-planned Idyllwilde, where the Pallasches and their 7-month-old son
Justin have pretty much a new, customized home, surrounded by great schools,
at a price that was inside their budget. The couple had already done over the basement of the old Denver place as the
obstacles mounted. “We couldn’t do this and we couldn’t do that,” Staci
Pallasch recalled. After some internet research, they took a drive further
south than they’d ever considered looking, and walked into Village’s
Idyllwilde models, in an open community plan wrapped in 300 acres of trails
and open space. “The price range was great,” Pallasch added. “I just fell
in love with everything about it.” But could you really get a builder at production-home prices to reach their
expectations? “They were great to work with,” said Staci, on their
experience customizing Village’s ‘Durham’ ranch, priced from only $281,000.
“Being able to pick every little bit was fantastic,” she added. The couple
upped the basement ceilings; did a late switch on their counters and
backsplashes to a different granite; and ordered a custom pattern on the
driveway. “Here’s your cost, we can do it,” was superintendent Jesse
Holschuh’s answer on all of those … including a last minute switch to
frame a custom pocket door in the master bath. “He had it done within a
couple of days,” said Pallasch. “We just tell people to go ahead, dream big,” says Village’s Ete Rondeau.
“If you want to expand the master, add a retreat, customize the deck with a
double-sided fireplace, we can do it.” She’ll show you a new Village
‘Congress’ plan priced from only $274,000, with three bedrooms that can be
expanded to four with 3-1/2 baths; and some home sites where you can get a
finished walk-out basement and 3-car garage. “We had a great year last year,” she adds, “and every one of those buyers
put their little stamp on the homes they bought.” Meanwhile, with the
market for resale homes getting tighter, Rondeau is seeing even first-time
buyers without kids arriving at Idyllwilde, wanting to have their schools lined up, and the kid-friendly amenities in place — including Idyllwilde’s
aquatic center and splash pool, parks and Grand Hall community center. If you go…
