JACKSON, Wyo.—Authorities say a Colorado man has been rescued after getting lost while backcountry skiing on the west slope of the Tetons.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports ( ) that 60-year-old Ernie Moscovics was rescued by a helicopter search crew on Friday.
His hometown wasn’t available.
His companions called the Teton County Sheriff’s Department volunteer search and rescue team when Moscovics became separated from the group in a blizzard on Thursday.
The helicopter crew found him by following his tracks. Search coordinator Doug Meyer says when search and rescue volunteers exited the helicopter, they sank into chin-deep snow.
Authorities say Moscovics was exhausted and dehydrated but otherwise unhurt.
