An extensive search Monday morning for three juveniles who were reported to have gone down a manhole near the intersection of East Platte Avenue and North Murray Boulevard failed to uncover the three.

Lt. Kriss Soppe of the Colorado Springs Fire Department said it is believed that the three left the area at another point and are safe.

A spokesperson with the fire department said a Colorado Springs Utilities worker driving in the area saw three children access a storm sewer. A utilities worker entered the storm sewer and discovered high levels of unsafe air with his breathing monitor.

Rescue teams found more than one area of daylight in the storm sewer, which means anyone in the storm sewer would have had more than one way to exit.
