COLORADO SPRINGS —

An early-morning shooting left two men dead and sent another two people to the hospital early Tuesday. According to emergency scanner traffic, police are searching the area for the suspected shooters.

The shooting happened about 4:30 a.m. outside of the Timberlane Apartments on the 3900 block of E. Bijou St. The road – just east of North Academy Boulevard – is currently closed while police investigate.

Sgt. David Edmondson said two men died at the scene and two others were taken to the hospital. He did not know the condition or gender of those in the hospital. He did not release the names or ages of any of the victims.

If the men’s deaths are ruled homicides by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, they would be the second and third homicides of the year for Colorado Springs, compared to two homicides by this time in 2011.
