STERLING, Colo.—A Logan County commissioner and electronics-store owner is asking an independent ethics commission to investigate his business dealings with the county.

Jim Edwards is asking the commission to rule on his actions setting the bid specifications for a county surveillance system that his company won as the sole bidder.

Edwards asked for the commission’s advice after The Denver Post ( ) reported in November that he had spearheaded the drive for an elaborate outdoor security system around the county building in Sterling and set the bid specifications.
