Everybody knows that Denver’s market for low-priced homes is running at a fast clip – but the bigger news is that some builders who do larger, nicer homes with deluxe features and amenities are seeing that better market, too. Today, Remington Homes, building homes like that at prices from the mid-$300s, will show you how they’re igniting buyers’ passions at Whisper Creek, inside Arvada, near Standley Lake.
Remington reps Joan Frick and Cathy Ellis (they’ve sold six and taken another six reservations since Thanksgiving) are used to seeing buyers from Arvada … however, this new sales wave includes families moving out from popular Denver areas like Stapleton and Wash Park – and others coming into Colorado for new jobs along the Boulder Turnpike.
That happened Wednesday, when a couple from New York arrived, both engineers, transferred to Boulder. According to Frick they combed listings along the Turnpike before they discovered Whisper Creek, just hours before their flight back to New York was set go. “They made a reservation on the spot,” says Frick … reacting to views of the Flatirons and to great schools, including Meiklejohn Elementary (9 for 10 stars at GreatSchools.net) and Ralston Valley High (10 for 10).
That activity in family-sized homes (including five ranch plans) doesn’t include the additional success Remington is having with its low-maintenance patio-ranch enclave at Whisper Creek (you can tour those homes right next door). Cory Filkins took another three reservations low-maintenance ranch models since New Year’s.
“It’s just the feel of it,” says Frick, who’ll show you Whisper Creek’s new pool and tennis club – as well as a few remaining view sites walking distance from the pool, up to a half-acre, that back to a conservation easement. Buyers, she adds, like Remington’s value, but also its well-known willingness to work with buyers on customizing homes around their own preferences.
Take Remington’s ‘303’ plan that buyers from Stapleton purchased — four bedrooms, 2,713 feet plus basement and full-width 3-car garage. That couple is having Remington add a guest suite on the main level for visiting parents – taking the size to five bedrooms – yet the pricing, before any trim upgrades are added, is still around $438,000.
HOA fees are very modest. Be sure to ask about those final view sites, and about a limited offer of 17 homes Remington is opening closer into Arvada at W. 50th and Indiana (three are already reserved). Whisper Creek — not easy to find — is east of Indiana Street on W. 87th. From Wadsworth/287 at the Boulder Turnpike, head south two miles to W. 100th, then west four miles (past Simms) to Alkire, then south.
