COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs police say a driver traveled the wrong way on Interstate 25 for about 4 miles until he was stopped by a police officer whom he had passed head on.

Police say Stephen Smith was driving south in the northbound lanes of I-25 at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, hitting speeds of 75 mph.

An officer who was heading north on I-25 turned around after Smith passed him going the wrong way and drove on the shoulder to catch up with him. No one was hurt.

Smith was cited with drunken driving and other traffic infractions.
