CHICAGO — Newt Gingrich may be the underdog in today’s Florida primary, but he shouldn’t be able to use one of Rocky Balboa’s themes at campaign events, lawyers for the composer of “Eye of the Tiger” say in a federal lawsuit filed Monday in Chicago.
After months of attempting to deal with Gingrich’s campaign, a Palatine, Ill.-based music publishing company owned by Frank Sullivan, lead guitarist of the rock group Survivor, has filed suit seeking damages and an injunction to block the candidate from using the song at appearances and in videos.
The campaign did not respond to requests for a comment Monday.
