Two months, almost to the day, after beloved restaurateur Noel Cunningham died, hundreds of his friends reaffirmed their commitment to keeping his philanthropic spirit alive by attending Strings of Hope. The two-part event began with a 90-minute celebration of his life, with entertainment and fond testimonials, in the Buell Theatre. Afterward, there was a $150-a-ticket walkabout supper in Seawell Grand Ballroom. The latter was a benefit for the Cunningham Foundation, and featured food and beverages from a dozen or so Denver chefs who admired Cunningham and his unstinting generosity on behalf of those who were poor, hungry, alone or homeless, both here and in Ethiopia. Strings of Hope was organized by Cunningham’s widow, Tammy, and Michael Ditchfield, Josh Hanfling, Pete Meersman, Mike Mills, Steve Sander, John Tobey, Amy Venturi, Brent Weaver and Randy Weeks.
