The Shins like to take their sweet time between albums — an average of almost four years — but nothing about the intricately layered indie-pop of James Mercer (also of Broken Bells) is rushed or rough. The Shins will return to promote their forthcoming March 20 album for Columbia, “Port of Morrow,” with a May 29 headlining date at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, with support from the Head and the Heart and Blind Pilot. Tickets for the sure-to-sell-out show are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($36.50-$43.75, Ticketmaster)

Lambchop, the swirling, brilliant, deeply eccentric mini-orchestra that hardly ever tours, is hitting Boulder’s Fox Theatre on April 28 to promote its new Merge Records album, “Mr. M.” That makes this rare glimpse of Kurt Wagner and company a cause for celebration. Tickets for the Nashville band’s show are already on sale. ($15- $18, )
Magic Cyclops, Denver’s favorite anti-comedy hero, is capitalizing on his sublimely subversive turn on “American Idol” last month with a show at the Bluebird Theater entitled “Magic Cyclops Sells Out … The Biggest Show You’ve Never Seen, In Your Life (as seen on ‘American Idol’).” A mouthful, yes, but Cyclops has never been known for his, ahem, subtlety. Tickets for the March 1 show are on sale. ($10, )
