Nearby schools were on lockdown Thursday morning as SWAT officers surrounded a mobile home in Thornton , after a stolen truck led law enforcement to unrelated criminal activity.

A Colorado State trooper found a stolen Ford Explorer parked at a home in Redwood Estates at Pecos Street and West 96th Avenue at 10:46 a.m.

When officers questioned five people “associated” with the truck at the home, one of them told police of alleged crimes taking place at a neighbor’s home.

People inside the neighbor’s trailer refused to answer the door, but seven came out when they were summoned by an officer with a bullhorn. The owner came out only after a standoff, the state patrol said.

The mobile home park yielded two arrests today, one on a vehicle theft charge and other on a menacing charge, but more charges and arrests are expected

The State Patrol did not say what type of criminal activity is suspected. The agency was awaiting a search warrant for the mobile home.

No names have been released, pending further investigation, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The seven people who initially came out of the mobile home “are considered potential witnesses and/or victims of the alleged criminal activity,” the state patrol stated.

Two vehicles were impounded, the stolen pickup that drew law enforcement to the neighborhood, and a Chrysler PT Cruiser from the second mobile home.

The Colorado State Patrol said more information would be released as the investigation progresses.
