When Vonnie Flores was killed by her next door neighbor in Leadville a year and a half ago, the Lake County District Attorney changed his policy on stalking cases. Now, Flores’s family is hoping to make a statewide change.
On Thursday, the Flores family will go before the Colorado legislature and urge them to amend Colorado’s current stalking bill.
The family wants to make it mandatory for a stalking suspect to go before a judge before he or she is released from jail. On top of that, they also want a victim to be provided with a restraining order.
The Flores family is inviting everyone to join them at the State Capitol Thursday. They’re going to protest outside around 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and present their proposal to the legislature at 1:30 p.m.
