LOVELAND — The red and white helicopter with its compact, bulbous body and 35-foot blades landed on the Medical Center of the Rockies helipad Tuesday afternoon a day early, just in time for the hospital’s fifth anniversary.
Curious onlookers streamed out of MCR’s emergency entrance doors and onto a small, grassy field to watch as the specially built and soon-to-be medically outfitted B3 helicopter touched down.
The long-awaited aircraft is the hospital’s first dedicated helicopter. It will serve as the centerpiece of Poudre Valley Health System’s new air ambulance program, located at MCR, which will serve an estimated 300 patients annually in Northern Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska.
