A 15-year-old girl from Massachusetts was killed Sunday afternoon when she skied into a tree at Copper Mountain.
She has not been named pending notification of family. The Summit County Coroner’s Office said she was from Wellesley, Mass.
The accident happened at 1:43 p.m. on the CDL trail, a 2,600-foot long, expert-rated run.
The coroner’s office said the ski patrol began “advanced life support” efforts on the slope to no avail.
Her death marks the 13th ski-, snowboarding-related fatality in Colorado this snow season. The record for Colorado is 17 set in 2008.
