BOULDER – — The director of Boulder’s housing authority said Wednesday that she’s open to hearing from residents who want to purchase a piece of land that’s slated to become housing for the chronically homeless — but she continues to believe the site is the best fit for the project.
On Tuesday night, a group of north Boulder neighbors who have banded together to oppose the proposed 31-unit housing project at 1175 Lee Hill Drive told the City Council that they are working with Boulder-based Emerald Management to purchase the property from Boulder Housing Partners.
Neighbors working together as the North Boulder Alliance have expressed concerns about safety in the area if the project is built so close to the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless. They say that buying the land would spread out the concentration of homeless facilities.
