COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Jurors in Colorado Springs are expected to resume deliberations Friday in the case of Detra Farries, who is charged in the death of a tow truck driver who was dragged by her vehicle.
Attorneys gave their closing arguments Thursday and the jury began deliberating, but left for the day without a verdict.
Prosecutors say that on Feb. 23, 2011, Farries drove off as Allen Lew Rose was preparing to tow her SUV, and he died after getting caught in a cable he had attached to her vehicle. Farries’ attorneys have said Farries didn’t realize Rose was being dragged.
Farries is charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a deadly accident.
