 University of Denver sophomore forward Chris Udofia was named the Sun Belt Conference defensive player of the year, it was announced today by the league, and guard Brian Stafford was second-team all-conference.

Udofia is second in the league and 23rd in the nation averaging 2.4 blocks per game. His 71 blocks this season are fourth in school history, and he has 110 for his career. He also averaged 14.9 points per game, which is second in the Sun Belt, and 5.3 rebounds. Udofia is the fourth player in DU history to make first-team all-SBC.

Stafford leads the league in 3-point percentage (46.0) and second in 3 -pointers made at 2.4 per game. He was named to the academic All-America team last week.

Seeded No. 3 in the conference, DU plays Sunday in the quarterfinals of the SBC tournament in Hot Springs, Ark., against the South Alabama-Troy winner.
