DENVER—Conner Wigton eluded a defender and scored with 1:55 left in the game to lift Regis Jesuit to a 3-2 victory over Ralston Valley on Saturday night in the Class 5A hockey championship game at Magness Arena.

It was the third title in the last five years for Regis (21-1).

Wigton’s 13th goal of the season came 35 seconds after Regis called a timeout to stop what appeared to be a rising wave of momentum for Ralston Valley.

Regis carried a 2-1 lead into the third period on goals by Marshall Conrad and Nolan Carothers, but Ralston Valley (19-2) tied it up on Casey Riccatone’s goal early in the third.

Regis Jesuit goalie Sam Harden kept Ralston Valley off the board the rest of the way.
