ASPEN, Colo.—The Pitkin County sheriff has fired a deputy after she was accused in a hit-and-run accident.
Sheriff Joe DiSalvo said Tuesday that 54-year-old Ann Stephenson will receive no severance pay and her termination was effective immediately.
According to the Aspen Times ( ), Stephenson was investigating a two-vehicle accident last month when a witness said someone hit another vehicle. Stephenson later notified a supervisor of the accident after the caller contacted authorities. The deputy was charged with careless driving.
Stephenson did not return a phone call seeking comment.
