A woman accused in the seemingly unprovoked stabbing of her employer in Allenspark has pleaded guilty to first-degree assault as part of a deal with prosecutors that will send her to prison for at least two decades.
Anna Nicole O’Neill, 27, pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to first-degree assault in Boulder County District Court. Prosecutors dismissed a charge of attempted murder in the case.
Prosecutors say O’Neill stabbed Vicky Foster, 63, 12 times in the back, shoulder and head on the morning of Sept. 15. O’Neill lived in a cabin on Foster’s property and worked for her.
Witnesses told investigators the two had a relationship that was contentious at times and friendly at other times, but there was never any violence between the women. Witnesses said that after the two women and other residents of the property had coffee that morning, O’Neill asked Foster to borrow a shirt, followed her into her bedroom and then attacked the older woman.
