DENVER—Denver health officials have cleared a man’s blankets and tarps from Civic Center Park after he told police he had scabies.
The Denver Post reports () the man was sleeping outside Friday near where Occupy Denver holds demonstrations and marches.
Police approached the man, who has not been identified, because he had several outstanding arrest warrants.
Police reported the man had a visible skin condition. They called the Denver Department of Environmental Health, and the man was taken into custody.
A health official dressed in a hazmat suit taped up the man’s belongings in a plastic bag. The sidewalk where the man was sleeping was washed.
