DENVER—Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is hoping the Broncos hang on to Tim Tebow so he can learn under the tutelage of Peyton Manning, if Denver lands Manning as expected.
Hickenlooper said Monday that Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game but called Tebow “a remarkable person.”
A person with knowledge of the discussions says Manning called the Broncos and told them he has decided to come to Denver.
The Broncos haven’t formally acknowledged Peyton’s decision or said what they would do with Tebow’s contract.
Hickenlooper says Tebow has conviction and heart and isn’t in the game just for money.
