A former Fort Carson lieutenant suspected of planning an elaborate murder-for-hire plot involving Texas drug cartels was court-martialed for having an inappropriate relationship before leaving the Army two weeks ago, a Fort Carson spokesman said Tuesday.
Army 1st Lt. Kevin Corley, 29, was sentenced to dismissal from the Army after being found guilty by a military judge of conduct unbecoming an officer, according to Lt. Col. Steve Wollman, a post spokesman.
The lieutenant was among six people — including an active-duty Fort Carson sergeant — recently arrested in connection with a plan to allegedly ship pounds of marijuana out of Texas for a drug cartel comprised of undercover federal agents.
Federal prosecutors also allege Corley tried to assemble a four-person kill team to steal 20 kilograms of cocaine from a rival cartel.
