GLENWOOD SPRINGS – — City residents and business owners would get a reprieve on wastewater rates this year, after several years of double-digit increases, under a proposal before Glenwood Springs City Council tonight.
Public Works Director Robin Millyard recommends no increase in wastewater rates for the year.
City sewer customers have seen rate increases ranging from 20 to 30 percent for six straight years, since planning for the soon-to-be completed new wastewater treatment plant began in 2006.
Meanwhile, the city’s rates for tap water are proposed to increase another 4 percent, following a 7 percent increase in 2011.
