DENVER—A man who planted a bomb at a shopping mall near Columbine High School on the 12th anniversary of the deadly shootings there has been sentenced to life in prison.
Earl Albert Moore apologized Thursday at his sentencing hearing in federal court in Denver.
Moore pleaded guilty in December to using a destructive device in a crime of violence.
Jefferson County sheriff’s officials say Moore planted a homemade bomb at the Southwest Plaza Mall and started a fire there April 20, 2011. No one was hurt. Moore has said there was no connection between the mall fire and the Columbine shootings on April 20, 1999.
Moore previously lived in Colorado. He was released from a prison in South Carolina a week before the mall fire.
