Larimer County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kyle Wayne Seery, 22, trying to stagger to his feet after he jumped from a fourth-floor hotel room to avoid an arrest Friday night.

Seery was being sought by authorities on a misdemeanor charge of third-degree assault when sheriff’s deputies went to the Plaza Hotel in Fort Collins to arrest him.

“After deputies knocked on the hotel room door and announced themselves, Mr. Seery apparently jumped out of the window of the fourth floor room,” the sheriff’s department said.

When deputies caught up to him outside, Seery was “attempting to stand up.” He suffered injuries to his legs and head, including what appeared to be a compound fracture of an ankle.

Seery remained hospitalized today in fair to good condition. He will be arrested once he is released, the agency said.

Court records show Seery has been arrested several times, including charges of theft, domestic violence, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license. He served 60 days in jail before he was given a one-year suspended sentence in a third-degree assault charge last year.
