Colorado’s own Oakwood Homes is a mirror of Denver’s faster-paced housing market this spring: The company expected to sell 90 homes last quarter, but instead took TWICE that many contracts. Today (with free pizza from noon until 2) Oakwood takes a bigger step into that brisker market, with a preview of three ‘Colorado Series’ models at Green Valley Ranch — larger space and affordably priced luxury — for families that are feeling much more confident now about moving up.
The setting is a half mile east of the DIA/Pena Boulevard freeway at Green Valley Ranch Boulevard, right across from the new DSST high school/middle school campus. You can take an advance tour today of a luxurious ranch and two big, family-sized homes that are being readied for grand opening next month, each showing “Smart Space” options for extra guest bedrooms/recreation/play areas. At prices from only $248,000, four families have already bought Colorado Series homes sight-unseen – some anxious to move up from older Green Valley Ranch homes, or to get new sites that Oakwood has right beside Green Valley Ranch Golf Club. (Some back to the 6th and 12th fairways. Oakwood’s team in the tent beside the new models can direct you where to take a look at those.) “Buyers and Realtors are both telling us that people are much more willing to take the plunge now,” says Oakwood Homes Vice President Kristen White, on hand with company architect Don Carpenter to look over the models in advance of today’s preview. “Realtors are calling us, asking ‘Do you guys have anything larger I can show my buyers?'” Carpenter’s new designs, ranging to 4,000 square feet not counting finished basement options and all offering flexibility in how buyers use formal and family spaces, fit that bill to a tee. “We’ve gotten totally away from the formal living room, and are offering flexibility on formal dining,” Carpenter said, noting that some new buyers say “I have to have formal dining,” while others say “there’s no way I want a dining room.” Purchasers get options on that; get clever “smart spaces” in gabled areas upstairs for kids’ play area, media room, library or added study, and are provided plenty of luxury features such as slab-granite and hardwood floors in the kitchen, and Oakwood’s 2×6 walls for ‘High Performance’ energy conservation. As on its other homes, Oakwood will guarantee your energy bills on these designs for the first two years of ownership. Take the DIA freeway to E. 48th/Green Valley Ranch Blvd. and head east a half mile. If you go… WHERE: Special preview, Colorado Series at Green Valley Ranch, 3 new models 2,600-4,000 sq. ft.; luxury size at attainable price; ranch model, golf sites, free pizza for family noon-2. 18130 E. 47th Dr., Denver; take Pena Blvd (DIA Fwy) north to E. 48th/Green Valley Ranch Blvd., east 1/2 mi. across from DSST School
