• The Kids in Need Foundation recently received a $25,000 grant from Staples Foundation to provide backpacks and supplies for 2,100 students at five elementary schools in Denver.

recently committed $25,000 to the PLANET Academic Excellence Foundation. PLANET AEF awards scholarships to students who are enrolled in landscape contracting and horticulture programs at two-year and four-year colleges and universities.

, a Broomfield-based software solutions provider, will donate more than $10,000 this year to The Chanda Plan Foundation, a Denver nonprofit working to improve the quality of life for people with physical disabilities.
• Oakwood Homes began framing St. Jude’s 2012 Dream Home in Castle Rock recently. Each year, St. Jude partners with local homebuilders throughout the U.S. to build 35 homes priced from $300,000 to $700,000. The 4,180-square-foot, five-bedroom, three-bathroom home is valued at $500,000 and is located at Morningview at The Meadows. The home is built with donated materials and labor.
• American Indian College Fund received $29,000 from Cigna Foundation
, $15,000 from MetLife Foundation
and $50,000 from Travelers Foundation.
•Brin Wojcicki Foundation, established by Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki, has donated $50,000 to Jeremy Bloom’s Wish of a Lifetime. In addition, the foundation has offered a $50,000 matching-grant challenge. It will match all new or recurring donations up to $50,000 through May 28.
• Community Food Share received 114,149 pounds of food and $48,257 in donations from Whole Foods Market’s Grab ‘N Give food drive.
• Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver is partnering with PCL Construction to fulfill a local family’s dream of first-time homeownership. The partnership includes a donation of $85,000 along with PCL employees, partners and community members pledging their time to complete the home.
