FAIRPLAY, Colo.—Two Park County sheriff’s deputies have been fired and a reserve deputy has lost his commission for the alleged inappropriate firing of a weapon.
KMGH-TV reports ( ) the three were terminated after an investigation into whether a weapon was fired at a beer keg while breaking up a teen party. Parents complained the shooting endangered people attending the party in a remote area of Pike National Forest.
One parent told the station a deputy fired the shots in an effort to break a chain used to secure the keg to a tree or a fence.
A Park County sheriff’s official did not immediately return a message.
A criminal investigation is being conducted by the neighboring Teller County Sheriff’s Office.
