Getting your player ready...
There are other reasons besides the Jay Morrish-designed golf course why Blackstone Country Club (rated a medalist this year by Avid Golfer as ‘Best Private Club’) counts an unusual number of new homebuyers coming from out of state. “It’s not just the quality of the golf, but the club experience itself,” says Lennar Homes sales rep Mary Connelly, who along with Marcia Haek will show you two model homes including a ranch; and some new sites opening today, some with walkouts, some overlooking the third fairway and its water features.
“People meet their neighbors right away; it’s like ‘instant friends,'” Haek said from the model center, just inside Blackstone’s entryway, south on Powhaton from the end of Smoky Hill Road.
Haek adds that not all Lennar buyers play golf, but that each and every one takes advantage of Blackstone’s very attainably priced social membership, centered on a lavish clubhouse with pool, tennis, fitness center, daycare and bar-grille that spawn lots of non-golf activities, including a Texas hold’em group and wine tastings. Connelly, who plays the course’s front fairways but stays off the famously challenging back nine, says that the course represents a special value if you do golf – with full golf memberships available now on a ‘twofer’ basis, two families join at once for $500 each, currently at $185 a month.
Connelly and Haek, who will be happy to line you up with another family to cash in on that, will also drop your name in the hat for two twosomes Lennar is giving away by tomorrow night. And they’ll show you two homes ready to deliver now, each close to the fifth fairway; one of them perfect for a family lured to top-rated Cherry Creek Schools including the nearby Fox Ridge-Cherokee Trail campus. That home, a ‘Madison,’ delivers five bedrooms and 4-1/2 baths plus main-floor study and 3-car garage. It has mountain views and is priced at $463,900.
The other is a roomy ‘St. Andrews’ ranch at $449,400, with fairways on one side, a view from the back; perfect for somebody downsizing from an older neighborhood that’s likely seeing faster resales now. Lennar packed each home with a luxurious ‘Everything’s Included’ package — walnut hardwood floors, granite tops, full overlay cabinets with oil-rubbed bronze hardware, wood blinds, and ‘smart’ technology that lets you lock doors and turn on lights from your iPhone.
If you don’t have your home on the market yet and have time to build, Haek and Connelly will show you those new cul-de-sac sites, including three that will take walkouts – a perfect match for a ranch plan. From E-470 take Smoky Hill east 2.4 mi. to Powhaton, then south.
