Former , left, had a productive freshman season for Vermont’s Catamounts. 

The 5-foot-10 guard played in all 30 games — the Catamounts were 10-20 — and was a starter in 15, including 11 of the final 12. 

In being named to the America East Conference all-rookie team, she averaged 7.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Shumpert scored a season high 17 points four times. Ranked third among conference freshman in scoring, she teamed with , another freshman. 

Vermont ended its season in the America East quarterfinals. Shumpert is the daughter of .
