GREELEY, Colo.—Weld County has collected $107 million in property tax revenues for 2011 from two oil and gas companies.
The Greeley Tribune reports ( ) Anadarko Petroleum Corp. paid $52 million, and Noble Energy paid $57 million in 2011 property taxes. Together, the two companies paid 25 percent of the total property taxes collected by Weld County for last year.
The money will trickle down to about 300 taxing authorities, including school districts, fire protection districts, library districts, municipalities and water districts. Much of what the county gets will be invested in roads and bridges.
Weld County sits atop some of the hottest parts of the Niobrara formation for oil and natural gas resources.
