COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Several organizations in Colorado Springs are holding a shredding party in an effort to prevent identity theft.
The Better Business Bureau, Bestway Disposal, KKTV-TV and Mobile Record Shredders will shred up to five boxes of documents for free on Friday.
The event started in 2005 to give the public an opportunity to safely dispose of personal and financial documents.
Plastic items, cardboard, magazines, and files more than a half-inch thick will not be accepted.
