The state’s unemployment insurance phone and online payment request system experienced an extensive outage on Sunday.

Cher Haavind, spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, said the system was down from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Haavind said the cause was a hardware failure.

“Our information technology team is still conducting a root cause analysis to determine what caused the failure,” she said.
