BOULDER, Colo.—A bus driver who was involved in a crash in Boulder that killed a 92-year-old woman has been ticketed.

The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office says 62-year-old John Gibbons of Denver has been issued a summons on suspicion of careless driving resulting in death. Authorities say Gibbons, a Regional Transportation District bus driver, pulled away from a stop sign and into the path of a car driven by Remy Pitts on May 9.

The Daily Camera ( ) reports the woman died the next day.

RTD spokesman Scott Reed says Gibbons’ driving record had been spotless since he was hired in May 2011, and the district will decide the fate of his employment next week.

Gibbons is scheduled to appear in court July 11. No passengers were on the bus at the time of the accident.
